Over the years, AMSG has felt the significant loss of several AMSGers who left us too soon, but who also left an indelible mark on our hearts and our company. In 2022, as a way to pay tribute to the spirit of those AMSGers, President and CEO Jim O’Farrell established the annual AMSG Memorial Character Award.

Created in concert with AMSG’s core six Cs – Competence, Courage, Compassion, Character, Communication, and Community – the award is a gesture that honors the legacy and character of our departed colleagues: Coast Guard Veteran Mike Reilly, Navy Veteran Sam Gilligan, Marine Corps Veteran Bob Massie, Marvin Crenshaw, Rich Speight, and Judy Houlton. A recognition that transcends the boundaries of life and death, it also acknowledges those who presently contribute so significantly to our company, our clients, and the success of the Federal Government’s missions that matter.

Each December, Jim, our Employee Engagement Team (EET), and AMSG Account Managers select a nominated AMSGer for going above and beyond throughout the year and who embodies our six Cs.

On January 18, 2023, and in memory of Bob Massie, AMSG announced the winner of this award: James “JC” Carlin! He is a Team Member who exemplifies competence, courage, compassion, character, communication, and community. “James Carlin is always willing to help and contribute,” said nominating members. “We can always count on JC to get the job done no matter what it is.”

This award reminds us that our company is not just a collection of employees, but rather a family. And that this award is not just a recognition, but rather a bridge that connects the past, present, and future of our company by honoring the departed, inspiring the living, and paving the way for a future where the torch of excellence is passed from one AMSGer to the next.

We find solace in the fact that the memories of our departed colleagues live on through this award. It is a poignant reminder that while we may part ways with our loved ones, their contributions and spirit continue to shape the trajectory of our company. And as we move forward into a new year and years to come, we carry that torch that was lit by those who came before us, ensuring that their legacies remain an integral part of our collective journey.
