As a Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business with a staff of 34% veteran team members, AMSG seeks to include and support veterans of all backgrounds and experiences through our employment, projects, and missions.
Advanced Management Strategies Group (AMSG) is Virginia Values Veterans (V3) certified for taking steps to implement nationally recognized best practices in recruiting, hiring, and retaining highly-skilled and dependable Veterans.
Alongside our continuing support of the Travis Manion Foundation’s Veteran Transition Workshops, Character Does Matter Program, and the annual 9/11 Heroes Run, we have also engineered an in-house program based upon our core values as a means for supporting transitioning military personnel, wounded warriors, and current and incoming veteran staff, as well as multiple mentoring programs and additional resources.
AMSG is proud to announce that the Acting Secretary of Labor, Julie A. Su, recognized AMSG as a recipient of the Honoring Investments in Recruiting and Employing American Military Veterans (HIRE Vets) Act of 2017 HIRE Vets Gold Medallion Award.
The HIRE Vets Medallion Awardd is the only federal-level veterans’ employment award that is earned by businesses that demonstrate unparalleled commitment to recruiting, hiring, and retaining veterans. Recipients of the 2023 HIRE Vets Medallion Awards meet rigorous employment and veteran integration assistance criteria, including veteran hiring and retention and providing veteran-specific resources.
AMSG joins other companies from all across the country, who have not only shown a commitment to hiring veterans, but also ensuring that they have a long-term career and growth plan that uses the diverse skills they acquired through their military service.
AMSG is proud of our Veteran Mentorship Program which is a part of our Veteran Resource Group.
Veteran mentoring programs create peer support among Veterans in the civilian workplace. They form a voluntary one-on-one relationship between a junior Veteran team member and a senior mentor. They assist the Veteran team member with his or her personal and professional growth in an organization focusing on helping the Veteran team member adjust to the civilian workplace culture and reach his or her full potential within the organization. Such a program is voluntary, bringing Veterans together in a trusted and comfortable environment.
For potential mentees, this is a great opportunity to connect with a mentor who can offer insight, advice, opportunity – and help navigate the next stage/s of a career. By being mentored by a fellow veteran who has experienced the same transition uncertainties, mentees won’t feel alone…mentees will feel understood. It has been said that team members with a mentor transition from military service to the corporate environment more successfully and with less stress and uncertainty and are 5x more likely to get promoted.
For potential mentors, this is a great opportunity to give back, become a better leader, and refine skills and networks. In sharing expertise and experiences, mentors are leaving a legacy and guiding another’s veteran’s career path while gaining an opportunity to review and reenergize personal career goals.
We are excited to see the mentorships and outcomes which evolve from this initiative.
