One Aide-de-Camp’s workday just got a huge boost in efficiency.

Recently, the Commanding General’s Aide-de-Camp at the Aviation Center of Excellence (AVCOE) asked for help speeding up the process of creating the Commanding General’s daily dashboard. This basic visual, which is used to brief the Commanding General on important day-to-day information, used to take hours to manually create because of disparate data sources and logistical roadblocks.

That’s where AMSG stepped in.

In just two weeks, far less than the previously-planned three months, the team was able to deliver a fully integrated dashboard that the Aide-de-Camp doesn’t even have to touch. Through strong communication, diligent work, and the smart use of technological tools, the team consolidated all the necessary data into a sleek, easy-to-read visual that updates seamlessly and automatically.

“All over the place, in [many] organizations, you’ll run into something where it’s like, ‘why are we doing it this way?’” Thomas Fisk, one of the team members who worked on the new consolidated dashboard said. “No one’s changed it in 20 years … and it’s just no one has spent the time to tackle something.”

The team has already received positive feedback on their product and this is just the beginning, with plans to expand the initial dashboards and create similar ones for other Generals’ staff and directorates. The vision? Live dashboards that automatically adjust as source data updates, so organizations can just plug in and go.

“The entire command team is benefiting from this product and they’re already looking at expansion pages that they can just easily click through,” Fisk explained. “The deputy to the Commanding General loves what we put together and is already challenging us for the next phase!”

As for what this reclaimed time might mean for the Aide-de-Camp, Fisk is confident it’ll translate into even greater efficiency and a better use of time.

“I guarantee he’s not gonna be sitting on his hands, doing nothing … [the Aide will] probably tackle something that he’s been putting on the back burner that he has not been able to get to efficiently or without doing long hours after five.”
