Behind every contract, dashboard, training session, or transition plan is a person who chooses to show up prepared, capable, and committed.

That is what Competence looks like at AMSG.

This year, we launched The Power of 6, a campaign highlighting our six core values and the team members who bring them to life across our federal partnerships. Our first spotlight focuses on Competence, and the nominations we received tell a powerful story.

Since 2018, our team supporting the VA Acquisition Academy has quietly strengthened the professional development of thousands of VA personnel. Monica Bland, Jordan Peterman, Rebecca Bell, Shannon Christy, Brian Loratto, Gloria Shunda, Andrea Smith, Larry Williams, Cinthia Mazzie, Shannon Romano, Paul Tschiffely, and Program Manager Kathy McKenzie work together to ensure every VA learner is fully supported from enrollment to certification. From registration and scheduling to travel coordination, facilities preparation, and executive administrative support, their precision and teamwork directly enhance workforce readiness across the VA.

At the Federal Trade Commission, competence shows up in data that informs decisions. Mohamed Elhag transforms complex analytical environments into clear, actionable insights, often anticipating customer needs before they arise. His work enables leaders to move forward with clarity and confidence.

Within the VA, Kathy McKenzie also leads with both expertise and empathy on the VESSA program. Her steady project management, deep understanding of VA requirements, and commitment to her team create stability in environments that demand agility.

Across Army T2COM, competence is shaping how data supports decision-making. Brock Morgan’s leadership earned customer recognition for advanced metrics dashboards. Brian Magley helped transition critical initiatives to automated, authoritative data streams on the Army’s Vantage platform. Eric Schaub builds practical knowledge-sharing solutions that enable leaders to access the right information at the right time.

At the VA CRR Business Office, Nicole Smith-McDermott is known for her professionalism and trusted expertise. Within DHA ARRM, Brendan Shea’s proactive approach and positive presence strengthen both mission delivery and team morale.

Different agencies. Different missions. One shared standard.

Competence at AMSG means doing the work well, consistently, and supportively—to strengthen our customers’ ability to serve others.

To those nominated and recognized, thank you for living the 6 Cs. And to our federal partners, thank you for trusting our people with missions that matter.
