NonProfit Spotlight: The Headstrong Project

On Tuesday, November 8th we had a fantastic presentation by Matt McCoy of The Headstrong Project.

Headstrong is a national-facing mental health treatment practice of choice for our nation’s military, veterans, and their associated family members. Operating as a nonprofit, they offer stigma-free, evidence-based, trauma-focused treatment. On average, Headstrong treats 1,400 clients per month through 275 clinicians in 13 states including Washington, D.C.

Matt was introduced to AMSG and Jim O’Farrell through The Headstrong Project after his daughter interned for them. As many of you know, Jim is a great connector and has raised awareness and funds for Headstrong benefiting veterans dealing with the hidden wounds of war. As a Headstrong veteran and employee, Matt takes great pride in the work they are doing to support our veterans.

Headstrong is disrupting the traditional methods in which veterans access mental healthcare by providing confidential, cost-free, stigma-free treatment to those in need. They are a national non-profit and the preferred provider for veterans accessing treatment outside the traditional VA provider. Matt was very excited to share more information with AMSG this week, as well as mental health tips that are applicable for not only our veterans, but the general population as well (see below). In the meantime, if you would like to make an impact and support Headstrong veterans and their families, you can donate here.
