This is the 50th issue of the AMSGazette. That is an accomplishment, for a company publication, and for a company. AMSG has made the Gazette a priority, because AMSG strives to be more than just an employer and works hard to stay connected, and the Gazette is part of that connection.

The Gazette has grown and matured, for sure, that is to be expected of anything and anyone who reaches 50, but it has also achieved its own identity. Hanging around long enough to do that is something.

50 is also a very respectable number, and it has, gravitas.

For example:

  • 50 words about AMSG: AMSG is imbued with the personality and ideals of its founder and CEO. It cares, it strives to be the best, and it’s a little emotional sometimes. It’s innovative without fads. It’s professional and personable. It’s a family, one that really wants you to stay on top of your timesheets.
  • The NBC series, The Good Place received fourteen Primetime Emmy Award nominations, two Golden Globe Award nominations, four Hugo Awards, and in 2019, the show received a Peabody Award, and did it all, in 50 episodes.
  • 50 bottle caps weigh about 100 grams, which is 3 ½ ounces, which is 100 one dollar bills, or 100 one hundred dollar bills, for that matter.
  • The fiftieth person to be president of the United States is still five people in the future, which would be no sooner than 2044, under normal circumstances. That’s 18 years away, and the AMSG Gazette will be rolling out issue number issue number… 215? Something like that.
  • If that’s too far into the distant future, you started reading this about 50 seconds ago. It only feels like 50 years.
  • There have been 50 Gazettes, and if you stacked them all, one on top of each other, it would be… a pretty small stack, really. Also, I don’t think it’s ever been printed, so you would have a paper stack of an electronic publication, but that doesn’t really say anything about the Gazette.

The Gazette is a newsletter, a signpost. It’s a way to communicate internally and externally about what is going on at AMSG and what we are thinking about. And it’s a little more. It’s a monthly check-in, a heartbeat. A collection of stories about the people, and the moments, and the announcements, and the comings, and the goings of a small, but mighty, company. If you read the Gazette you will know what’s new, and what we care about. When you publish fifty check-ins, fifty heartbeats, that means something.

I looked at a lot of articles about what 50 means, as a number, as an age, in roman numerals, and in life, and they didn’t seem to resonate. Those were just little bits of trivia. 50 issues of the Gazette isn’t trivia, it’s a milestone, a marker. It means we are here and we have had the time to establish what we stand for and what matters to us. And if you want to know what that is, it‘s shipped to your inbox every month.

Happy 50th AMSGazette.
