Every Earth Day, my kids and I grab a few trash bags and walk around our neighborhood picking up litter. It’s a simple tradition, but it’s our way of taking care of the place we live by doing something small yet meaningful.

That same idea carries over into how we think about Earth Day at AMSG.

It’s not about one big initiative on one day. It’s about the small, consistent choices we make year ’round, as individuals and as a company, that add up over time.

What Can You Do to Help?

You don’t need a big budget or a formal plan to make an impact. Some of the best places to start are right outside your front door.

  • Street Cleanups
Litter doesn’t just affect how things look; it often ends up in our waterways and local ecosystems. A quick walk with a trash bag can make a real difference—aesthetically and environmentally.
  • Planting Trees
Each year, we visit our local Earth Day festival and pick up free trees to plant in our yard and nearby woods. Trees start small but deliver huge returns, providing shade, supporting local wildlife, and helping to clean and cool the air.
  • Reduce and Reuse
Simple swaps at home, like reusable kitchen items or non-toxic cleaning products, can reduce waste and limit what ends up in landfills.

How AMSG Does Its Part

At AMSG, taking care of our environment is part of how we operate every day, not just something we talk about once a year.

We are proud to be ISO 14001 certified, which means we have systems in place to reduce our environmental impact and continuously improve how we do things. And we adhere to those systems, for everything from responsible recycling of electronics and batteries to reducing paper use across the company.

It’s one of the ways we hold ourselves accountable and make sure we’re doing our part behind the scenes.

Turning Values into Action

Our commitment to the environment is also clear in how we support our communities.

  • Supporting organizations like the Arcadia Center for Sustainable Food & Agriculture in Alexandria, VA, helping advance sustainable farming and local food production Participating in service efforts that strengthen communities locally, nationally, and abroad
  • Traveling to places like Kenya, Honduras, and Guatemala to support initiatives that provide resources and build stronger foundations for the future

These efforts reflect what we value most: showing up with competence, compassion, and a strong sense of community.

For 56 years, Earth Day has served as a good reminder that the small things really do matter. Whether it’s a walk with bag in hand around our neighborhood, or the systems we build while hewing to our values as a company, it all adds up.

If each of us does a little, every day, together we make a real impact, year after year.
