More than just a buzz phrase, community outreach is an important part of corporate culture at AMSG. AMSG supports dozens of organizations focused on Veterans and children, including international philanthropic trips with team members. Through community outreach and charitable endeavors, Team AMSG is making a huge impact on the communities in which team members live and serve.

AMSG’s core values – known as the Company’s six Cs: Competence, Courage, Compassion, Character, Communication, and Community — is representative of a holistic approach to business. AMSG’s focus on “Forging Solutions for the Missions that Matter,” carries over to social responsibility and community outreach just as much as the bottom line.

The importance of Community is highlighted throughout the organization, from comedy nights benefitting nonprofit organizations to donations to and challenges benefitting charities. From supporting programs like making cards for deployed service members to youth sporting programs, Team AMSG shows up — together. Community outreach helps AMSG employees forge stronger relationships with the communities in which they live and work.

Last year, 29 team members gathered at Arcadia Farm for a team building day of volunteering. The organization seeks to create more equitable and sustainable food sources in the Washington, D.C. area. Team AMSG returns to Arcadia Farm this month to continue efforts for the farm, which also trains Veterans to farm after transitioning out of military life.

Jim O’Farrell, AMSG’s President & CEO said, “As a Veteran-founded and led organization, it’s our mission to support our Veterans, active-duty service members, and their families. And as a person who believes in serving a higher purpose, I’m proud that our team comes together with force to support our community. We believe in the importance of giving back and making a positive impact beyond business. Together, our impact makes a difference.”

Not only does the community outreach aspect impact the community where Team AMSG works, but it’s a way for team members to amplify the organizations and causes they hold near and dear. Frequently, the recipients of volunteer hours or charitable donations are recommended by team members. Last year, AMSG sponsored a fundraising event called Coldest Night of the Year, which was brought forward by longtime team member Patsy Hockaday. AMSG supported a group of America’s next generation of leaders and Double Dutch jump-roping enthusiasts with Jump DC, a group that a team member helped coach.

The community outreach and charitable efforts of Team AMSG strengthens collaboration and fosters a sense of shared purpose. It allows teammates to learn more about one another, whether due to outreach activities or shared passions and learned experiences, which helps to break down barriers and build stronger relationships. Through giving back to the community, together, team members can thrive both in and out of the workplace, but more importantly make an impact on the community as a whole, causing a ripple effect to those that witness the impact.

AMSG is committed to reaching our communities, Veterans, and citizens through robust outreach programs that ensure a diverse collaboration where all voices can be heard. To see the organizations supported by AMSG, visit our Outreach page.
